At the same time, there are hard and soft deadlines. We are at the mercy of government agencies and we must march to the beat of their drum. In addition, we want to manage your expectations.<\/p>\n<p>WCG thinks in four seasons- tax preparation, tax planning, extension, and end of year. We say this as a way to help you manage expectations. What do we mean here? When you call in March and want to chat about a rental property you might or might not purchase, please understand where our focus lies when we kindly ask to defer that conversion until May or June.<\/p>\n<p>The following schedule shows general payroll deadlines, tax return preparation deadlines and reminders, tax planning season and a bunch of other goodies. As such, all payroll hours, changes, new employees, etc. <span style=\"color: #ab9157;\"><strong>are due no later than 11:00AM mountain time on the Wednesday<\/strong><\/span> prior. Exceptions are rare. This sounds obstinate, Yes. We agree. At the same time, payroll processing is stressful for everyone, and adding time-based stress is not good.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Shareholder_Payroll\"><\/span>Shareholder Payroll<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Shareholder payroll is processed for a check date of around the 10th of the month, and the processing starts on the 6th. Should you need to make a payroll change, it must be sent to us no later than the <span style=\"color: #ab9157;\"><strong>close of business on the 2nd of the month<\/strong><\/span>. Since our payroll team are payroll specialists and not tax planners, this might also require a switch to <a href=\"https:\/\/wcginc.com\/kb\/minimum-payroll-with-december-bonus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Payroll Mins<\/a> for the remainder of the year with an off-cycle bonus to true payroll. Shareholder is meant to be a set it and forget system, with one or two minor changes throughout the year.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"End_of_Year_Processing\"><\/span>End of Year Processing<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Throughout the year, and especially during tax planning, we will connect with you to determine your self-employed health insurance premiums paid, long-term care and disability payments, confirm 401k deferrals, among other thing for your W-2 preparation.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Employee_401k_Plan_Deferrals\"><\/span>Employee 401k Plan Deferrals<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/retirement-plans\/401k-plan-fix-it-guide-you-havent-timely-deposited-employee-elective-deferrals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Department of Labor on 401k Plans<\/a>&#8211;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cParticipant contributions must be deposited in the plan as soon as it is reasonably possible to segregate them from the company\u2019s assets, but no later than the 15th business day of the month following the payday. However, if employers can reasonably make the deposits sooner, they are required to do so.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Employer 401k plan contributions are due with the tax return filing deadline including extensions. So, we start our calendar with December-<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tax season kicks off with engagement letters.<\/li>\n<li>Payroll team starts processing your W-2 information.<\/li>\n<li>Tax planning wraps up with next year&#8217;s payroll plan starting January 10th.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t<style><\/style>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"info-box-wrapper\">\n\t\t\t\t<div id=\"wd-68751e364fdb4\" class=\" wd-rs-68751e364fdb4 wd-info-box wd-wpb text-left box-icon-align-top box-style- color-scheme- wd-bg-none border-btm-title img-right \">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"info-box-content\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"info-box-title title wd-font-weight-800 box-title-style-default font-primary wd-fontsize-m\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"January\"><\/span>January<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"info-box-inner reset-last-child\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Business entity tax prep kicks off. You are likely cash-based in your accounting, so, Jan 2 is a lovely day to get us your financial statements for tax prep. Really!<\/li>\n<li>W-2&#8217;s are delivered mid-month by our payroll team.<\/li>\n<li>4th Quarter estimated tax payments are <span style=\"color: #ab9157;\"><strong>due Jan 15.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li>1099s that you want WCG to prepare, file and mail to the recipients are due Jan 15. Use our <a href=\"https:\/\/wcginc.jotform.com\/wcg\/1099_issuance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">secure online form<\/a> to submit these requests.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tax Plans and Payroll Plans are not updated between January and April. If salaries need to be adjusted because of a change in business circumstances, then income tax liabilities will be adjusted on a pro-rata basis and adjusted in May, June or July after a Tax Plan is created.
